Catch the ball with both of your hands, but secure it by holding it close to your body and covering it with your arms. Run towards the end zone, but also keep tacklers to your back. Playing in unsafe conditions can mean sprains and broken bones, neither of which you want.

Stretch all your muscles before practicing or playing a game and wear all of your protective equipment. Muscle injury is much more likely if you begin playing before your muscles are warmed up. Safety gear is required for a reason. Ensure that your helmet fits well because head injuries sustained while playing football can be extremely dangerous.

Continually make your work outs harder. Don’t just run, but run carrying weights. Don’t just do squats, do them while holding a barbell. Do these work outs under the guidance of your coach or a trainer so that you don’t end up injuring yourself, but do push yourself to your limits.

To help protect yourself when playing football it requires a full uniform with the proper equipment. Referees will not let you on the field if you aren’t wearing a helmet, pads for your shoulders, knees and a cup to protect the groin area. Be safe, and always wear the necessary equipment, otherwise you might find yourself carried off the field on a stretcher.

One important strategy to playing a better game is to keep up a rigorous fitness routine even during the off season.
